Class Descriptions

Intro to Yoga:

This class is for beginning students. We talk about the history of yoga and the different classes that we offer at Yoga Path.  We explore the art of Ujjayi (or victorious) Breath along with proper safe alignment in basic Yoga postures and some of the benefits of those postures.  Here you gain some insight into some good reasons for practicing Yoga and how the practice can apply to you personally.  Demonstration and practice of common Yoga postures may also be covered.  Ideally new students attend this class several times before attending other classes.

YOGA 101 WORKSHOP

This workshop is comprised of four classes, once weekly.  Each class builds upon the previous class giving students a strong foundation for a safe and effective practice.  Students are required to sign up for all four classes in advance of the starting date or on the day of the first class.  If any classes are missed they will not be made up soplease be sure that you can attend on the dates scheduled.

Fundamentals:

This class is for students of all levels.  Basic principles of alignment are re-visited along with refinement of the postures.  The focus is on deepening your practice and getting to that place where your postures are truly ‘comfortable and steady’.   Once this goal is attained we can experience the strengthening and healing benefits of Yoga.

Soft Flow:

A moving meditation that embraces a continuous flow of energy.  Movement is synchronized with an audible breath that is smooth and rhythmic.  This connection invigorates the body while calming the nervous system. Soft Flow leaves students of all levels feeling refreshed and energized.

Deep Flow:

Deep Flow Yoga is more strenuous than the Soft Flow with a longer sequence of standing postures.  This class teaches us to connect posture, breathing and intention while building energy throughout the class.  We use Yoga Asana sequences that start off simple and grow to reach a goal, then gradually work their way back until cool down and final relaxation.  Designed to increase strength and flexibility improving your balance.

Restorative Yoga:

This is the perfect class for those days when you just want to release, unwind and open tight areas through supported poses and deep breathing.  It is also recommended for anyone who is healing from injuries or dealing with chronic illness.   Those practitioners who appreciate a slower paced practice will really enjoy Restorative Yoga.  Deep stretches encourage release and relaxation of muscular tension.  Supported postures open the breath and allow tension in the back, neck and shoulders to dissipate.  Simple flowing movements in synchrony with the breath distract the mind and take students to a peaceful place.

Core:

This class is composed of traditional and contemporary yoga poses that bring awareness to the center line of the body.  Focus is on connecting with those deep core muscles through specific movements and locks.  Done in a vinyasa style flow, this class is great for those who want the serenity that yoga brings with a touch of vigor.  This class is open to all levels.  This class will challenge your limits, build strength and tone the core.

Core Basics:

This class is slow paced and not quite as vigorous as  a core class.  There is much emphasis on technique and correct movement from one’s center.  Through simple movements students are taught how to engage core strength efficiently.

Pure Hatha

Mrs. Hall approaches yoga from an Iyengar tradition of “precision of movement with anatomical correctness.”  Her style of teaching allows the beginning, intermediate, and advanced student to experience both preparations for traditional poses (asana) and/or completed poses, depending on the readiness of the individual student.  Mrs. Hall is adept at assessing the needs of individual students and modifying the poses to accommodate the struggling student or challenge the more experienced practitioner.  There is always room for growth.  Mrs. Hall can help any “body” develop greater strength, flexibility, and balance in all aspects of his/her being (body, mind, and spirit).  Her teaching style is therapeutic on all three levels.  Plus, we all have fun in the process!
